Mobilisation
We are at an unprecedented time in world history – a time at which we must act urgently, with unity and clarity, to defend life and Mother Earth.
We are part of an indivisible whole – Mother Earth
-
We are all part of an indivisible, living community of interrelated and interdependent beings with a common destiny - Mother Earth.
-
Mother Earth is the source of life, nourishment and learning. It provides all we need to live well.
-
Human activities are disrupting Mother Earth, putting life as we know it today at risk through phenomena such as climate change and extinction of fellow species.
Climate change is a symptom of a wider cause
-
Climate change and extinction are at the core of a growing crisis. But the crisis is not merely about these things or the science surrounding them.
-
They are part of a wider crisis – a food and energy crisis, a social and economic crisis, an ideological and political crisis, an ecological crisis.
-
These coupled crises are caused by a system based on competition and limitless growth – one that reduces everything into commodities: water, earth, the human genome, ancestral cultures, biodiversity, justice, ethics, the rights of peoples, and life itself.
-
One that seeks profit without limits, separating human beings from nature and imposing a logic of domination upon nature and people.
-
The crisis is symptomatic of system designed and dominated by wealthy elites, and opposed to the interest of people and the integrity of Mother Earth.
Seek more systemic solutions
-
In an interdependent living community it is not possible to recognize the rights of only human beings without causing an imbalance within Mother Earth.
-
It is necessary to recognize and defend the rights of Mother Earth, and take collective action to transform current systems and address the root causes of climate, extinction and other threats.
-
It will require an effort to live simply and well, in a new system that restores harmony with nature and among human beings.

Mobilize everywhere to defend life and Mother Earth
-
Defending all life calls for an unprecedented mobilization of people – a movement of movements at the local, national and global levels. This effort can:
-
Be based on rigorous analysis of causes of the current situation
-
A more systematic mobilization of different parts of society
-
Development of clear platforms for mobilization, resistance and action
-
Clarity about who supports and opposes a movement
-
Willingness to embrace a range of non-violent actions to counter root causes
-
More systematic engagement in each relevant forum – local, national and global
-
Mutual support among allies in key struggles
-
A clear agenda of just and positive solutions
-
-
Together we can shape an agenda and mobilization to stabilise the Earth's climate and secure a just and sustainable world.
